Hello! Thank you for visiting my weblog. My name is Alysha Esdaile but you can also call me Lish! I am in the process of completing a Masters of Information Management with a dual qualification in Librarianship and Records Management & Archives. I am studying through Curtin University via distance education.
On this weblog I will be sharing links and information relating to libraries and information management. Some of the areas that I am interested in include cataloguing and classification of materials (in particular RDA and the Semantic Web), the use of social media within libraries and how libraries can engage with communities using new and enhanced services such as maker-spaces.
I have a background in web & graphic design, so I will also be posting about relevant technologies in relation to information management and how libraries are connecting to communities via their websites and social media.
I previously graduated from Curtin University of Technology in December 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Internet Communications. This degree focused on social use of the internet, online research, virtual communities and the advanced design of usable web sites. I ran my own business for eleven years providing web and graphic design services and remain greatly interested in these topics.
